Good overview. A few comments:

Self-deprecating stories: only guy I know who deploys these is Dante. Wouldn't really say this is general Manhattan Daygame advice. I'm not really a big fan personally, there's a lot that can go wrong here.

I'd say more of a Manhattan Daygame way to DHV is subtly by telling a story that only someone who is "in the know" would be able to tell. Or baiting the DHV by dropping a hint.

Fuckboy topics: Half of those are wayyyy too sexual for a daygame set.

Frame control: I don't see either technique as "London vs. Manhattan". I'd say we use both of the techniques you mentioned. I'd say rather that what you have listed as Manhattan is a Level 1 callout and London is a Level 2 callout.

Thanks

Self-deprecating stories:

Yeah, I agree this is far too advanced for my wing or I to pull off at the moment. The only time I get self-depreciation to work is when I temper it with a London high-status line: “Well I actually am a drug dealer- formerly unlicensed, but I went clean and got licensed.”

But I only bought it up to point out that self-deprecation seems like an important component to a “Manhattan Identity”- I had attempted to run sets with a Manhattan Identity that was self-aggrandizing rather than self-deprecating. And that didn’t work out. And when I thought about it more, I see how such an identity would be perceived as too insecure in a competitive, status-driven city known for ambitious, self-promoting people. Whereas self-deprecation communicates “I’m above all that”

DHV:

Right now I kind of “bait” the DHV by making them ask a question:

“So you’re an … I didn’t expect that from you. So what do you think I do for work? What’s my vibe?”

“Typical you’re from… And where do you think I live?”

Not really sure if you meant something else by “bait”. Maybe we talk next time we run into each other again.

Fuckboy Topics:

Yes agree these are very sexual and I’ve never used them- this is mostly brainstorming for nightgame.

But I do see a future where one or two of these lines can be delivered later in a set when attraction has been built. But my non-verbals would have to “soften” the delivery. To make it clear I’m joking, I would:

- Break eye contact

- Physically turn to the side

- Use an obviously playful tone

-Afterwards, turn back, smile and go “Anyway!” in an uptalk tone

Anything that clearly acknowledges the social norm violation. But this is also way too advanced for me at the moment.

Frame Control:

Yeah, there’s an inherit “jokiness” to Manhattan conversation (the humor is an absurd statement being stated as a matter-of-fact) that makes it suitable for level 1, whereas the “grounded-in-reality” London conversation makes for a level 2 “I’m being serious” callout.

My definition / opinion on a lot of these will likely change. Right now, I'm just looking up and seeing what intermediate+ conversation looks like. I still need to actually get there to see if these concepts hold true.

Yep, that's exactly what's meant by bait, you're doing it well.
